You should watch Jujutsu Kaisen

This will contain minimal spoilers of the show, there will be no manga spoilers!!

 Shawmba here,

I am an avid anime watcher and a huge fan of Manga. I grew up watching Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and much more to even mention without going on a tangent. What I am here to talk about today is a newer anime that I cannot recommend more, Jujutsu Kaisen. Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime/manga written by Gege Akutami and is being produced and animated by studio MAPPA. At the time of writing this post, there are 20 episodes to watch of its first season. It will release in seasons, with season 1 being 24 episodes long.

The story follows Yuji Itadori, a 15-year-old teenager who wants to live a happy life; a life with no regrets. He is fond of his grandfather, his only family member that we have seen, and is currently in the hospital. Itadori has always been athletic and loves hanging out with his friends after school and participating in a ghost club. One day one of his friends discovers an artifact that is wrapped in some kind of bandage and appears old and creepy. Yuji's friends start to analyze this strange object, and then everything goes wrong.

Without giving the story away any more, the power system in the show so far reminds me of how the power system worked in Hunter X Hunter if anyone reading this is familiar with that work. The concept of it revolves around curses, or negative energy within any living object, and one channeling of negative emotions. The framework of it seems like that's all there is to it, but it branches off into its own unique style of showcasing both Gege's creativity and fleshes out character development, adding a new layer of complexity to characters and blurs the lines between good and evil.

The pace of the show is great, nothing so far has felt rushed and every scene feels important to the show. This also enhances the fight scenes cause the fights do not seem dragged out and every moment only adds to the suspense and beauty of the animation and visuals. Speaking of the visuals, they are nothing short of amazing. MAPPA has been throwing the kitchen sink at every episode in terms of budget, sound, and animation.

Every episode is a visual masterpiece, and so far Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the best anime to watch right now if you are looking for a visually amazing show with an intriguing cast in a compelling world. Currently, you can watch it on Crunchyroll, HBO Max, and Funimation. If you do watch, comment down below if you like it and who your favorite character is so far. Talk to you soon!
